We're in the together

Wow!  2020 has been anything but a quiet and joyful year.  From January 3 when I made the decision to leave a position in Hanover, to February temporarily working for a CA firm, before March came along with a flu that just wouldn't leave and my starting another position with One Care Home & Community Support Services at their Wingham location as their accounting supervisor (which I'm happy to say I love!)

In addition to the challenges of my own life, the World Health Organization deemed a global pandemic in March.  Covid-19 was no longer on the other side of the world in Asia and Europe, it had reached our shores and quickly changed our lives.

March 15 we decided to close to studio not long after it became government mandated unless you were an essential service.  Social distancing of 6ft (2meters) has become the norm; 14 day self isolation; no groups of more than 50 people, probably soon to be 5.  Don't visit friends and family.  Hundreds of thousands of people affected and will continue to be, and most devastating: countless lives lost.

It comes as no surprise that this new reality is having impacts on people in a multitude of ways -- not just the fear and unknown, the financial impacts, job losses and layoffs, boredom and possible stress if you're stuck at home, stress if you're working.

At Samava Yoga Studio, we are fortunate.  We will be able to weather the virus and open back up once the state of emergency is lifted and businesses are legally allowed to re-open.  We're waiting for that day.  Calendars are created and ready to post.. really hoping to be back operating May 1 but prepared if it's later.  We really miss everyone.

Please, PLEASE reach out if you're scared, if you're lonely, if you need some grounding, or if you need to connect.  We are all here with you in spirit and welcome any communication.

You've probably noticed, we have not jumped on the bandwagon of providing online classes - mostly because there are so many places online that you can find classes for free.  Please remember, if you're following along with classes online, you still have full sovereignty over your body.  Don't strive to be perfect, allow your body to guide you to what it's able to each time.  Every day is different, every body is different and that's all perfectly okay.  Please be kind to yourself, this is a very stressful time.  Practice what feels right for you and please don't worry about what anyone else says - we all cope differently.

As many of you know, my daughter, Ava worked in the store.  She found a new position in the area of her studies and has now left working at the studio to pursue her dreams.  We wish her much success and hope that she'll be in for a class or to help out from time to time.

As a result, our store hours will be different once we can open.  We'll be open Tuesdays 10-2 and Saturday 11-2.  The store will be open before and after classes.

I've also been thinking alot about we stock and have decided to take the store in a slightly different direction, more details on that later in the year.

So, as we head into April, please take care of yourselves.  Please practice loving kindness to you and all those around you.  We're in this together!  And one day soon we'll get to spend time with you in person.

Sending much love to you and your loved ones.  Stay safe xo

As always, if you have any suggestions or requests -- please don't hesitate to reach out.  Without each and every one of you, we'd cease to exist.

Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.

The Journey Begins

by Rhonda Waechter

Surrounded by an opaque white light

Do not be afraid

You can trust

You are safe

You are not alone

You cannot see

You must trust the light

And you do

In your mind it shows you a small glimpse

Walk through

Embrace the light

It is you

Let it fill you

Open yourself

Embrace your Goddess.
